About the webinar
This webinar presents a practical use case demonstrating the retrieval of Leaf Area Index (LAI) over South Tyrol during 2023 using Sentinel-2 data in EOPF Zarr format. The session highlights how cloud-native Earth observation data structures enable efficient, scalable processing of vegetation biophysical parameters across large time series.
Using Sentinel-2 observations stored in the EOPF Zarr data format, the demonstration shows how LAI can be derived and analysed over time, illustrating seasonal vegetation dynamics and regional monitoring capabilities. The workflow emphasises scalable processing approaches designed for cloud environments, allowing users to efficiently handle large Earth observation datasets.
Guest speaker Gaia Vallarino (EURAC Research) guides participants through the use case, presenting both the methodological approach and a practical demonstration of the processing workflow.
